THE CIVIC HALL IS AVAILABLE TO HIRE IN A LIMITED CAPACITY. Applications will be assessed on an individual basis with reference to the latest government guidance. Attendance numbers and the type of event you wish to run will impact on our ability to accommodate you. Please ring the Civic Hall Administrator on 01803 862147 to discuss your requirements. Please note that we are unable to offer our kitchen and bar area for hire at the current time but this will be kept under review. A subsidised cleaning charge will be compulsory for all hires.
From 14 September there will be legal limits on how many people can meet in a group at any one time. Whether indoors or outdoors people from different households must not meet in groups of larger than 6. This limit does not apply to meetings of a single household group or support bubble which is more than 6 people.
Venues following COVID-19 secure guidelines can host more than 6 people in total, but no one should visit or socialise in a group of greater than 6 unless they are participating in what’s called ‘permitted activities’. It is also important that people from different households (who are not meeting as a support bubble) remain socially distanced.
If partaking in permitted activities, users of COVID-19 secure community facilities should limit their social interactions with anyone they do not live with. Whilst activities may have 6 or more people participating (where it is safe to do so and capacity permits) it is important for all parties to maintain socially distant, 2 metres or 1 metre with actions taken to reduce the risk of transmission (where 2 metres is not viable) between households. For example, use of face coverings and encouraging good hand hygiene on entering premises and throughout visit.
Permitted activities are defined primarily, but amongst others, in Section 3C – Recreation, leisure and social gatherings as part of the Government’s Covid-19: Guidance for the safe use of multi-purpose community facilities.
