Committees
Full Council
The Full Council meets monthly to agree policy and debate issues. It approves or amends the recommendations made by the different Council committees and working groups (except for HR and Planning, which have delegated authority). Each meeting opens with Public Question Time. The Agenda is printed a week prior to the Full Council Meeting and is available from the office. The Agenda includes attachments and the Minutes of the Committee meetings. All members of the Council attend this meeting.
Financial Scrutiny Committee
This Committee oversees the financial affairs of the Town Council. The members are: Councillors Vint (Chair), Boswell, Harper, Horsburgh, Adams, Hodgson and Blackwell.
Policy Development Committee
The Committee has been newly formed to take responsibility for the services for which the Town Council is directly responsible. It will also oversee the effectiveness of the Council. The minutes of past Totnes Information Centre Committee meetings are also listed below for reference. This committee replaces the Performance committee. The members are: Councillors Westacott MBE (Chair), Harvey, Whitty, Gorman, Cohen, Craddock, Greenway, Tomalin, Wellwood and Vint.
Planning Committee
The Town Council is a statutory consultee for all planning applications and this Committee considers and makes recommendations to the South Hams District Council (the Planning Authority). The members are: Councillors Tomalin (Chair), Hodgson, Harvey, Whitty, Gorman and Wellwood.
Personnel Committee
Responsible for issues related to the employment and pay of the staff. The members are: Councillors Whitty (Chair), Westacott MBE, Boswell and Craddock.
Mayoral Functions Committee
Responsible for issues relating to Mayoral and Civic matters. The members are: Councillors Westacott MBE, Boswell, Whitty and Vint.
Working Groups
Civic Hall Working Group
Established in November 2011 to look at all aspects of the Civic Hall.
Tourist Information Centre Working Group
Established in November 2011 to look at all aspects of the TIC.
Heritage Working Group
Established in November 2011 to look at all aspects of the Listed Buildings owned by the Town Council and including the Guildhall, Guildhall Cottage, Cemetery Chapel and Museum.
Buildings Working Group
Established in July to look at Town Council buildings and associated costs. This group will report back to the October Policy Development Committee Meeting. COMPLETED AND CLOSED.
Castle Meadow Working Group
Convened in July 2011 to look at the options for opening up Castle Meadow for public access. This group will report back to the October Policy Development Committee Meeting.
