Mayor’s Statement on the Death of HRH Prince Philip

As Mayor of Totnes, and behalf of the Town Council and its residents, I am saddened to hear of the death of His Royal Highness Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. He served this country over a number of decades, will no doubt have known Totnes as a naval cadet in Dartmouth, and was ahead of his time in setting up and supporting a number of the environmental projects and charities which will resonate with many people of the town.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Her Majesty The Queen and members of the Royal Family at this sad time.

The Civic Hall flag will be lowered to half-mast during the mourning period. Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 there will be no physical condolence book available at this time. A national online condolence e-book has been set up by the Palace is available at https://www.royal.uk/ where residents can pay their respects.
