TOTNES GREEN TRAVEL CO-ORDINATOR

Salary Details: £13.42 to £14.24 per hour.

Job Term:  Fixed Term until 31st March 2023 based on confirmed external funding

Hours: Part Time 15 hours per week, Tuesday – Thursday, 10am – 3pm

Location: Totnes Town Centre

Organisation: Totnes Town Council

We have a vacancy for a part time Green Travel Co-ordinator. Hours are 15 hours per week worked over three days, Tuesday to Thursday, 10am – 3pm, but some flexibility will be required.  Additional hours may be necessary including some evenings and weekends, as required by the activities of the Town Council. The job will be based in a town centre location.

This exciting opportunity has arisen to help deliver the Green Travel Strategy for Totnes. We have created a new role and are looking for an individual who can demonstrate an understanding of the issues around green travel and the links with the climate and ecological emergency. You should be highly motivated to help shape the future of our Town through engaging with internal stakeholders, partners, residents, businesses and the wider community to influence positive environmental action and behaviour.

You should have:

  • A knowledge of green travel strategies and climate change issues;
  • Strong project management and effective communication skills;
  • A collaborative approach to working across a range of service areas;
  • Direct experience of working on environmental projects/programmes;
  • Experience of developing strategies, action plans, setting and monitoring targets;
  • Enthusiasm, an open-minded approach, and the ability to overcome problems and identify practical solutions.

You will be a confident self-starter and an experienced relationship builder. Confident in communicating with people across all levels and able to work on own initiative, organising and prioritising own workload to set deadlines.

ADMINISTRATOR

Salary Details: £11.68 – £12.65 per hour

Job Term:  Permanent

Hours: Part Time 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9.30am – 4.30pm (with ½ hr lunch)

Location: Totnes Town Centre

Organisation: Totnes Town Council

We are looking for a friendly, organised person to join our small team based in a town centre location. Hours are 32.5 hours per week over 5 days, Monday to Friday, 9.30am – 4.30pm (with ½ hr lunch) but some flexibility over start and finish times may be required. Additional hours may be necessary including some evenings and weekends, as required by the activities of the Town Council. The job will be based in a town centre location.

The role involves providing an efficient PA service to the Mayor, the organisation of some Council events including more formal civic occasions and community events / workshops, taking responsibility for office administration to ensure the smooth running of the office, and providing support to the Marketing & Communications Manager. The role will also include acting as cover for our Assistant in the Tourist Information Office in the event of absence due to sickness or leave.

You will need to have experience in minute taking, have a good working knowledge of IT hardware and software systems, and be experienced in using social media. Adaptability and excellent organisational and time management skills are essential for working in our busy office. The postholder will be required to undertake training to act as a First Aider for the Council and will be required to cover the reception and phones in the event of staff absences.

Relevant experience or transferable skills are required.

CARETAKER

  • Salary Details: £10.79 per hour
  • Hours: Zero hours per week. Hours will vary per week and will be dependent on Civic Hall bookings.

PURPOSE OF JOB

Totnes Civic Hall is a busy community venue operated by Totnes Town Council to provide the facilities for the people of Totnes and the surrounding areas. Open 7 days a week with varying hours and we require a caretaker who can help us deliver a successful venue. The Caretaker role is a key player in the venue’s team and requires a dynamic and personable individual who has a broad understanding of attention to detail, is a quick learner & able to undertake physical tasks.
