Winter Planning

Check the Grit Bins on Your Street

Winter is coming. If you have a grit bin in your street, please give it a check and if it needs to be refilled you can contact Devon Highways direct and click on the grit bin option to request a refill.

In case of snow and ice

Extra supplies of salt will be available from the South Hams District Council depot on Babbage Road between 8am – 4pm Monday to Friday. This salt is available to any residents who live in areas which are not covered by the main salting networks and who need to make their local paths safe. It is NOT for private use and we ask you to respect this: there is only a limited amount available and, if you use it for yourself, there may not be enough for everyone else.

Devon Community Resilience Forum

You can find plenty of useful information for householders on their website about how to prepare, respond and recover from emergency situations such as severe weather and flooding. Please take the time to have a look – it could save you even more time in the event of an emergency.
