Following an independent Community Audit, Totnes Town Council (TTC) is updating its community funding model to better support local organisations and projects. Funding will be available through small grants to support smaller-scale, time-limited community projects and initiatives; and core funding to help provide essential services in the town.
You can apply for a small grant of up to £1,000 at any time. These community grants can support small initiatives and pilot projects, local events, environmental improvements, and community activities that benefit Totnes residents.
The 2026/27 grant allocations and contact email addresses are as follows:
- Community Working Group: £5,000 – clerk@totnestowncouncil.gov.uk
- Economy Working Group (Event Sponsorship): £2,500 – economy@totnestowncouncil.gov.uk
- Economy Working Group (Business Support): £2,500 – economy@totnestowncouncil.gov.uk
- Environment & Public Realm Working Group: £5,000 – administrator@totnestowncouncil.gov.uk

For full details on eligibility, terms and conditions, and how to apply, please read the Community Funding Policy and complete the application form below. Applications will initially be reviewed by the relevant Totnes Town Council Working Group.
The simple form above asks for details on how the funds will be spent and the policy which includes details of eligibility and all supporting documents that need to be submitted. Projects that help meet the objectives set out in the Town Council’s 2024-29 Strategy will be prioritised. The grants are funded by a portion of the Council Tax that is collected from Totnes residents. Councillors allocate the available funding at the Full Council meeting and successful applicants will be informed after this date.
Please note, the next Working Group dates where any initial applications could be considered are:
- Economy – 19th May
- Community – 20th May
- Environment – 27th May
This will mean Mid-June is the earliest date any application can be agreed so urgent requests need to come in asap. After that it is likely to be September and we expect that to be a significant over subscription for these smaller funding pots. Further conversations about larger grants and strategic funding will be had in due course via committee and we will update as soon as possible.
