We are looking for an experienced communications and marketing professional to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative and creative individual with a strong marketing and PR background.
Each year Totnes and the surrounding area welcomes almost half a million visitors, and we are looking for someone who can attract new audiences and source new opportunities to increase our market.
You will be customer-focussed with a creative outlook, combining a wide range of skills and experience across communications and marketing with plenty of initiative and enthusiasm.
You will be self-motivated with a flair for creativity and promotion. Along with suitable experience of marketing or tourism, you will further develop our social media presence. You will use your excellent copy writing skills to provide content for press releases, email campaigns and marketing materials so a strong news sense, and experience of writing press releases, statements and other media content is essential, as well as experience of working with and managing media relations.
You need to be able to demonstrate the ability to work on your own initiative and prioritise workloads. An understanding of Local Government procedures and process would be an advantage.
A relevant marketing qualification would be preferred but is not essential if you can demonstrate suitable experience. You must have experience in digital marketing with excellent content creation skills. Photography and video editing skills would also be useful. You must demonstrate experience and enthusiasm of working in marketing in the tourism industry.

ASSISTANT MAINTENANCE OFFICER
Salary: £29,572 – £31,586 per annum (pay award pending)
Contract: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday – Friday, 9am – 4:30pm (with 30-minute lunch break). Occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

Totnes Town Council is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Maintenance Officer to join our dedicated team. This is a hands-on role assisting with the upkeep and management of the Council’s premises, grounds, and the general appearance of the town.
Key Responsibilities:
– Carry out general property maintenance and repair work
– Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations
– Provide excellent customer service to members of the public, local traders, and partner organisations
– Utilise problem-solving skills to address maintenance issues
– Perform physical tasks, including handling heavy loads and working at heights
– Basic IT skills (emails, Word, Excel)
Requirements:
– Proven experience in general property maintenance
– A good understanding of Health & Safety regulations
– Friendly and helpful customer service manner
– Trustworthy and conscientious approach
– Ability to work independently, both indoors and outdoors
– Local knowledge of Totnes (desirable)
